Health Care Network, Inc. of Racine

Image Health Care Network, Inc. has become known as the jewel in the community’s crown for being committed to serving the uninsured of Racine County. Initiated in 1987 with approximately 50 volunteer physicians, dentists and the area hospitals, the Health Care Network provided 464 health care appointments to the working poor population in its first year. In 2007, twenty years later, there are just over 350 volunteers from 24 specialties of medicine, 5 areas of dentistry and the area hospitals provide approximately 9,000 health care appointments annually.

Health Care Network is the largest volunteer effort in the state of a medical and dental community. Over the years, their efforts have prevented strokes and heart attacks by treating chronic conditions, given our neighbors a second chance at life through their treatment of a variety of cancer, taken children and adults out of pain from dental abscesses and decay and kept people working and in school through their medical care.

Most volunteers give their time weekly which can be taxing, but the experience is worth it explains Kathie Radwill, R.N. a member of the Network.  “You can’t put a dollar amount on it. You leave with a sense of satisfaction, and you feel good about what you have done.”
