Jim Smart, Greendale

While on his daily mail route on July 1, 2008, US Postal Carrier Jim Smart stopped at a local resident's home with her mail. Jim immediately noticed the woman's mail had not been picked up for a few days, so he became concerned and asked neighbors if they had seen her. No one had, so he asked a neighbor to call the police department and ask them to check on the resident.

The police responded and attempted to make contact, and found the woman, very weak and dehydrated, lodged under her vehicle. Because of Carrier Smart's concern and call, the woman received prompt medical care and attention.
