UPS

Both corporately and locally, UPS has urgently responded through donations, volunteer support and staff efforts to help the thousands of victims who were impacted by the flooding in 2008.

Package delivery was challenging due to the roads and railways that were made impassable by severe flooding; however, UPS employees throughout Wisconsin devised many creative “work-around” routes to ensure service was provided. Because packages often contain important mail-order prescriptions that customers can not do without, local UPS teams tirelessly worked to engineer new routes that would enable drivers to safely deliver packages and get necessary items to those in need.

Local UPS volunteers also rolled-up their sleeves to help flood victims by participating in clean-up projects, collecting donations for food pantries or working with the Humane Society to help pets reconnect with owners. Mobilizing funds for disaster relief organizations was also a priority. UPS employees donated $10,000 to the Red Cross, and the corporation designated $100,000 to the American Red Cross disaster relief fund. “United as One – Making a Difference” is UPS’s community theme and also represents their collective efforts to help improve the communities were they live and work.
