Purpose

To train Babysitter's Training Instructors to teach the American Red Cross Babysitter's Training course.  This course prepares instructors to use course materials, conduct training sessions and evaluate the progress of participants in a basic-level course.

Prerequisites

  • Be at least 16 years of age on or before the last scheduled session of the course
  • Hold a current Babysitter's Training Instructor Certificate
  • Successfully complete the precourse session

Learning Objectives

  • Be familiar with the American Red Cross Babysitter's Training (r.02) course materials
  • Be able to plan and conduct a Babysitter's Training course
  • Be able to effectively evaluate participants' progress in a basic-level course

Length

Approximately 4.5 hours (includes FIT)

Instructor

Currrently authorized American Red Cross Babysitter's Training instructor trainers.

Certification Requirements

  • Attend and participate in all class sessions
  • Pass the final written exam with a minimum grade of 80 percent (16 corrrect answers out of 20 questions)

Certificate Issued and Validity Period

Babysitter's Training Instructor Certificate - Authorization is valid for two calendar years.  All authorizations expire on December 31.
