BODY WORLDS is the world’s most successful traveling exhibition, created by German anatomist, physician and inventor of Plastination, Dr. Gunther von Hagens. Since the exhibition premiered in Japan in 1995 and nearly 25 million visitors in more than 40 cities in Asia, Europe and North America have experienced it. BODY WORLDS 1 first appeared in the United States in 2004 and is presented in Milwaukee by Northwestern Mutual Foundation. BODY WORLDS 1 is educational, authentic and inspiring. The Red Cross will be offering presentations on February 14, March 13 and April 17 at 5:30, 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. during the exhibition. The presentations cover topics such as first aid/CPR/AED, pet first aid, disaster services, preparedness, water safety and blood services. You can also receive a free voucher good for complimentary entry into the exhibit by being one of the first 40 presenting donors at monthly Red Cross blood drives held at the Milwaukee Public Museum. Anyone 17 years of age or older, weighing 110 pounds or more and feeling in good health may be eligible to donate blood. Blood drives will be held from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. on February 22, March 21, April 25 and May 23. Tickets are limited and preference will be given to those who make an appointment in advance to donate, with walk-in appointments taken as time permits. Advance appointments can be made by visiting givebloodgivelife.org or calling 1.800.GIVE.LIFE. Donors should proceed to the Museum’s main concourse, where they will be directed to that day’s donation site. The striking whole-body plastinates in BODY WORLDS —people who in their lifetime donated their bodies for Plastination for the express purpose of educating future generations about health—allow viewers to see inside the staggeringly complex and completely interconnected network of muscles, tendons and blood vessels that make up our bodies. For additional information about BODY WORLDS 1 and to purchase tickets, log on to www.mpm.edu today. Advanced reservations recommended. |
