Autumn West Safe HavenAutumn West Safe Haven is a 17-bed, short-term housing program run by Red Cross and the Milwaukee County Mental Health Complex. Its goal is to help individuals with mental illness obtain incomes and permanent housing. Emergency Assistance to Homeless FamiliesThis program provides rent assistance for families in emergency shelters to enable them to obtain permanent housing. Homeless Outreach Nursing CenterThrough the Outreach Center people with mental illness who are homeless, receive health-related services whether on the streets, at a mealsite or in emergency shelter. Homeless Outreach Psychiatric ClinicThis clinic, which is staffed by volunteer psychiatrists and nurses, provides assessment, brief intervention and the prescription and monitoring of medicine. The clinic operates in emergency shelters for individuals not served by the mental health system. Protective PayeeThe Protective Payee Program is designed for families who are homeless. Red Cross staff members work with the families for a one-year period to help them function independently. Services provided to families include case management, housing assistance, advocacy and budget counseling. Respite Program for Homeless Individuals with Medical NeedsThe American Red Cross, in cooperation with the Salvation Army, administers the Respite Program. Through the program, we provide shelter and nursing care for individuals in need, providing people time to recuperate. |
