In 1943, President Roosevelt was the first president to declare the month of March Red Cross month. Sixty five years later, we invite you to celebrate March 2008 with us at community events and promotions highlighting Red Cross services and volunteers.
Milwaukee Bucks night with the Red Cross March 1 Watch the Milwaukee Bucks play the San Antonio Spurs, enjoy a complimentary piece of pizza and soda and help the Red Cross. A portion of each ticket will benefit the Red Cross. Culver’s Day of Caring March 5 Head to your local Culver’s restaurant and enjoy a ButterBurger and Flavor of the Day, knowing that ten percent of the day’s sales will be used to fund Red Cross work! Brave Hearts: Heroes among us March 20 Ordinary people doing extraordinary things, that’s the focus of Brave Hearts: Heroes among us, an inspiring evening at the newly renovated Turner Hall Ballroom. Disaster Services Training Conference March 26-29 This conference is filled with Red Cross information for the novice and more established volunteer willing to offer a few hours of time to helping others affected by a fire, tornado or other disaster. Blood Drives March 1-30 The cold weather and snow storm has kept many at home this winter and disrupting blood drives, causing the Red Cross to lose more than 1200 blood and platelet donations. Help us help those who need blood. Visit a blood drive near you or visit our Waukesha Blood Donation Center on a Tuesday or Thursday afternoon. You can also find the Red Cross on placemats at local restaurants, on Milwaukee County buses, and at BODY WORLDS 1 at the Milwaukee Public Museum. The possibilities are endless---come and check out the Red Cross at a community event or blood drive near you!
