![]() American Red Cross volunteers are assisting residents affected by a fire at a chemical plant in Columbus, a town on the border of Dodge and Columbia counties. Red Cross volunteers have been on scene since last night when the fire was reported and evacuations were initiated. The volunteers opened a reception center for more than 100 people who left their homes. Red Cross Caseworkers assisted two families who had no place to go. The Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) responded last night, and will be in Columbus until the fire response is winding down. Volunteers are feeding emergency responders who are fighting the fire. The American Red Cross in Southeastern Wisconsin relies on donations of time and money so they can provide relief to victims of disasters and help people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies in Dodge, Kenosha, Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Racine, Walworth and Waukesha counties.
