![]() When you work every day with members of your credit union to help them save money, like the employees of AM Community Credit Union (AMCCU) do, you gain a deep appreciation of what a dollar can buy. The 60 employees of AMCCU are sharing that appreciation with their members by offering them the opportunity to use those dollars to help others in their area. It’s a natural fit, as Brian Jaffe, Chief Operations Officer of AMCCU, points out, “Community is our middle name.” Since 2007, AMCCU has held event after event to raise funds for the organization that can provide those basics for their neighbors, the American Red Cross. Their events are part of AMCCU’s drive to be a Hero for the American Red Cross, and have the added bonus of being fun. Employees hold bake sales, make contributions through the company’s Casual for a Cause program and host their annual Shred Fest. Held in early May, AMCCU gives the community a chance to destroy old documents during Shred Fest for a small donation to the Red Cross. Last year, AMCCU raised $1,792 in just one month. This year, they are on track to surpass that amount. Every dollar counts, and every moment of fun is for a cause. Employees of AMCCU know that is what being a Hero is all about. It’s a title they don’t take lightly, and they encourage other groups to pursue. “We jumped on board,” says Director of Marketing Peggy Wynia with a smile. “We love finding ways to improve the lives of the people we serve, and our partnership with the Red Cross accomplishes that goal.” Heroes pledge to raise funds for the Red Cross any way they want during the month of May. If your group would like to be a Hero for the Red Cross, please use our contact us form or call us at 414-342-8680.
