After 37 years, Carolyn Haight is welcoming retirement.  She has seen quite a few changes in those 37 years and has been an integral part of shaping the programs and the role of volunteers within the chapter and the Red Cross.

Carolyn began her career here as a Transportation Secretary making a whopping $5,000 a year and working with Betty Bowser.  Through the years she has worn the hats of Director of Community Volunteer Services, Director of Human Resources and Director of Health and Safety before becoming Chief Operations Officer in 2002.

Two of the many highlights of Carolyn’s career include serving on the Chapter Enrichment Program, where she traveled to 9 different chapters across the nation and going on deployment to Hurricane Katrina. “It was so compelling to be a part of the relief operation.  Personally everyone should be a part of at least one major disaster to get what we do, said Carolyn.”

“I just want to express how much Red Cross means and the need for commitment to what we do, said Carolyn. 37 years is the bulk of my life and is so much a part of me.  I’m so grateful for all the opportunities I was afforded. “

With a busy itinerary awaiting, we wish Carolyn all the best in her leisure and travels. But the truth is we will miss her and her enthusiastic laughter!
